Yes, by all means, but you’re not an ukulele instructor, you’re an ukulele teacher. If you want to learn the ukulele on your own, the best advice I can give you is this: find someone who can teach you how to play the instrument. If you’re not sure what you want to learn, ask around. Your best course will likely be to talk to another ukulele player to find out what works for you.
How do I do it?
To learn how to play ukulele, you must have excellent posture (or, at least good posture) on a consistent basis. If you can play the instrument right from start to finish, chances are you’ll become a much better and easier speaker and speaker player. It’s not rocket science, if you have trouble hearing, you’re too far off. If you don’t seem good enough to play the instrument, then you’re not right for it. Most of my students have problems with hearing, and if not corrected, they could end up in the same position as my other students: no better, no worse. If you don’t have any problems hearing, and are doing some kind of musical activity that requires you to be able to play very quickly (for instance, drumming on a snare drum), then I would say that is sufficient preparation. Of course, if you can’t play at all and can’t practice, you also don’t need the preparation.
Most teachers have a “practice-as-a-learning” type of training that’s a little bit of a mixed bag. If you feel that you’re already good enough to play this instrument, you can simply have the “practice session”. If you want to progress farther then simply do the “practice session” and see how you do. If you find that you’re good enough to play the instrument, it’s okay. If you’re not good enough to play it (and if, God forbid, it’s a real problem) then find a fellow ukulele player who can teach you, but if they can’t teach you, you can’t play it yourself. If the teacher can’t teach you, you can’t learn any better.
I often get questions about “practice”. In a typical session, I will: 1. Have my ukulele placed on the floor 2. Have the teacher play the string on the ukulele 3. Have my u
