Here are a few of my tips:

First, you need to make sure that you’re really going to work out at age 40 or later. If you’re still starting to exercise, then go for it. You can also go for it later in your life if you just are not seeing results at that time.

In addition to your workout schedule, it’s a good idea to have a healthy diet plan at this age. It might be hard at first to get enough calories in at this age, but you can start planning for your diet and exercise schedule, and you will be able to start your long-term plan. (Of course, many of us feel that we are the perfect candidate at 39 — or even later — and that’s a good thing. So if you think you should get active with a plan for this time in your life, give me a call.)

Another good way to make sure that you get started and you’ll be able to train at 40 is if you’re really fit at this age. You could consider training once a week for 3-4 weeks in a row, or for 2 or 3 months at first to see if you still have the strength and cardio drive to continue.

So you know what your goals are for the next year, but what about the other two years at 40? Are you still ready to start the next decade?

My advice: Be very clear about what you think you want to accomplish in the next decade. When was the last time you thought about what you wanted to achieve in the next 10 years? I do that all the time for my 40th birthday.

So I’d like to suggest a few things to do if you think that you might want to do an exercise routine and workout routine on your 40th birthday — you could add in any of these to your workday when you are home from your job, and then after that:

Keep going to the gym every day at work for 2 hours per cardio session. Use your exercise plan that you’ve prepared for you and then go off your plan and do it again.

If you can’t do that, try to get some sort of flexibility where you can do different exercises over a few days before going back to that plan.

The other important thing is to really do your daily cardio and workout to get stronger for 40 and start working out. You’re not working out until 40 at all is how often you have to go to the gym.
